Steve is the founding member of MasurLaw. Steve helps our clients in entertainment, technology and other industries with corporate finance, contracts, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions and general business strategy issues.
During his 14 years at MasurLaw, Steve has helped pioneer a wide array of new business models and licensing schemes as counsel to and on the board of hundreds of companies and corporate divisions. Steve's clients have ranged from successful new technology, music, film, video game, mobile and wireless services providers to companies with novel business model twists on advertising, publishing, media delivery, software, hardware, licensing and even heavy industry. Steve has helped clients organize, write contracts, work out complicated legal and business problems, get funding and pursue merger, acquisition and sale opportunities in complicated competitive environments.
Prior to MasurLaw, Steve was an attorney at Sabin, Bermant & Gould in New York practicing in the cable TV and corporate areas. He served such clients as Advance Publications, Conde Nast Publications, Newhouse Broadcasting Corp. and Eastern Microwave. Steve received his J.D. from American University in Washington, DC, is a member of the New York and District of Columbia bars, and serves a wide variety of public and private organizations.

Cheryl Wickham, Esq.

Cheryl Wickham is the managing partner of MasurLaw. Cheryl focuses on issues related to the firm’s TV, film, video, and general entertainment practices. She assists clients in all aspects of production legal, including: entity formation, fundraising, drafting and negotiation contracts with key personnel, trademark and copyright protection, intellectual property licensing, general business law issues, and advice regarding defamation and privacy claims. She also assists clients with general employment law issues, including the drafting and negotiation of employment contracts and assistance with settlement of employment disputes. In addition, Ms. Wickham manages the business affairs of the firm, oversees business development, event planning and personnel issues.
Ms. Wickham previously worked in San Francisco for the entertainment law firm Idell, Berman & Seitel, where she completed trademark and copyright applications, negotiated license agreements, and filed on behalf of artists with the performance rights societies. In addition, she assisted employment lawyer Richard Vaznaugh, Esq. with wage & hour and employment discrimination cases.
Ms. Wickham received her B.A. in 1997 from the University of Southern California, and her J.D. in 2001 from Golden Gate University School of Law. She is licensed to practice in California and New York.

David Mazur*

David Mazur is a law clerk at MasurLaw, specializing in new media, intellectual property, corporate and transactional work.
Prior to joining MasurLaw, David worked in Litigation Support at Viacom. He also worked at the 92nd Street Y where he provided legal support to technology based media and community outreach programs and administered rights clearances for the Y's musical performances and speaker series.
David earned a B.A. from Emory University where he studied English Literature and Political Science, and a J.D. from the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Law where his courseload focused on intellectual property and corporate law. During law school, David was an entrepreneurship scholar at the Missouri Innovation Center, a small business incubation center affiliated with the University of Missouri focused on growing the technology and life science industry cluster in Mid-Missouri.

Susan A. Meisel is Of Counsel at MasurLaw. Susan focuses on general transactional and intellectual property matters, including acquisitions and finance.
Susan is an experienced corporate/transactional lawyer with 20+ years practice experience, with a focus on media, intellectual property and general counsel work. Susan began her legal career as a corporate associate at Simpson Thacher and Bartlett where she handled a broad range of transactional work including private placements, initial public offerings, municipal bond offerings and investment funds; mergers and acquisitions; public company reporting and compliance; and commercial banking, and also advised not-for-profit organizations. Subsequent to Simpson Thacher, Susan held several general counsel positions, including Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Village Voice Media; General Counsel and Director of Legal Services, Institute of General Education; and Vice President, Law and Business Affairs and General Counsel, Viacom New Media. Susan has also worked as Vice President and Counsel in the legal department of Credit Suisse, where she advised on public and private securities offerings, private equity investments, sales and trading issues, conduit lending and commercial paper programs.
Susan received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986, and her BA from Georgetown University, magna cum laude, in 1981.
Susan is a member of the Association of the Bar of New York, Copyright Society of the U.S.A. and Women in Digital Media. Susan is licensed to practice law in New York.

Rick Purcell, Esq.

Rick Purcell is associate counsel at MasurLaw, specializing in contracts, music law, intellectual property, trademark and copyright issues, as well as general transactional and corporate work. Before joining MasurLaw, Rick was an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, LLP, and Pryor Cashman, LLP, where he worked on a wide variety of litigation and intellectual property matters.
Rick earned a B.A. (Honors) in Philosophy from S.U.N.Y. Binghamton and a J.D. from Cornell Law School. He is licensed to practice law in New York State and the Federal courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Jonathan Lutzky, Esq.

Jonathan Lutzky is associate counsel at MasurLaw, specializing in intellectual property, licensing, and general corporate transactional work. Prior to joining MasurLaw, Jonathan was an associate at Bienstock & Michael, PC, where he worked on various corporate and intellectual property matters, with a particular emphasis on trademark prosecution. Jonathan has experience working closely with musicians, musical instrument companies, record producers, record labels, and inventors.
Jonathan received a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied Communications at the Annenberg School, and a J.D. from New York Law School. During law school, he was a member of the New York Law School Moot Court Association. Throughout his second and third years of law school, Jonathan worked in the Business and Legal Affairs Department of EMI Music North America.
Jonathan is licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and New York.

Vanessa Bonn

Vanessa oversees MasurLaw's business development, advertising, marketing and PR activities, as well as publication, media outreach and promotion.
She comes to MasurLaw with experience from both Jezebel Records, Inc. and Two Sheps That Pass…, where she worked in radio promotions, artist development, and entertainment marketing. Vanessa also has a background in vocal performance and songwriting.
She received her B.A. in 2004 from Five Towns College where she majored in Music Business.
